The notorious case of Oboronservis not only didn't harm the career of ex-Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov: on the contrary, it seems to have boosted it. On the last day of January it became known that the decision of the president was to appoint the former deputy head of the State Corporation Rostec Dmitry Shugaev the director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation. The head of that service, Alexander Fomin, in turn, took a new position as Deputy Secretary of Defense for International Affairs (the tenth deputy of Sergey Shoigu). Only one position remained vacant: the deputy head of Rostec. As commentators believe, one of the most likely candidates for this position is the ex-Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov.

Today, Anatoly Serdyukov still leads the aviation cluster of Rostec. However, several high-ranking sources in the government and in the management of defense enterprises have reported that the former head of the Defense Ministry is soon likely to receive a proposal to move to a new level and will become deputy head of the state corporation on foreign economic cooperation.

The scandal, which accompanied Serdyukov's resignation from the ministry, according to commentators, has not prevented him from making "a brilliant career" in the state-owned corporation. Recall that in 2013, the year after a brief disgrace, the minister was appointed CEO of the Rostec's Federal Research Test Engineering Center. And then confidently walked up the carreer stairs. Two years later, Anatoly Serdyukov occupied the post of Industrial Director of Rostec in charge of the aviation industry, and in addition, became a member of the board of the corporation. And according to some reports, he will replace Sergey Chemezov as the Russian government representative on the board of JSC United Aircraft Corporation.

It should be noted that Anatoly Serdyukov's carreer is divided into "before" and "after" the Defense Ministry. The period when he headed the military department was marked not so much by the army reforms, but corruption scandals and lawsuits. The key was hearing about the withdrawal of "non-core" Defense Ministry assets in 2008 through Oboronservis. Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov and the head of the Department of Property Relations Yevgenia Vasilyeva became the main defendants in the scandal, but both ended without any significant consequences. Yevgenia Vasilyeva, was sentenced to 5 years' imprisonment in a penal colony, but after less than three months was freed and is now engaged in the fine arts. Ex-minister escaped with minor experiences, soon began a successful career in Rostec with a virtually clean slate, unstained by the Oboronservis case.
