Poroshenko permitted to impose sanctions against Russia

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that Kiev is ready to abandon the introduction of the trade embargo, if Russia agrees to carry out the agreement on free trade zone.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the law on amendments to the Law "On Foreign Economic Activity", thanks to which the government is now able to "apply appropriate measures of an economic nature to the aggressor state", according to the website of the Verkhovna Rada. Ukrainian parliament adopted a relevant bill on 24 December.

"If discriminatory or unfriendly actions towards Ukraine are used by the state recognized by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine by the aggressor or invader state, response ... can be used to address the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine", - the document says.

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraineproposal to ban the import of some Russian products from 10 January. According to a posting on the website of the Russian goods list, the restrictions will affect bread, pastries, chocolates, meat, fish, coffee, tea, black, baby food, filter cigarettes, beer, vodka and other products.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk at the press conference expressed the willingness not to use mirrored trade sanctions against Russia if Moscow cancels prodembargo against Kiev and will carry out the agreement on free trade zone with Ukraine within the CIS.
