"Gazprom" created a reserve for the entire amount of the fine on the transit contract with the Ukrainian "Naftogaz", while not excluding the debt of the Ukrainian side. This is reported by Interfax with reference to the reporting of the Russian company.
In the balance sheet of Gazprom, according to the article "fines, penalties, penalties for violation of the terms of contracts", an expense of 272.943 billion rubles, or 4.74 billion dollars (at the rate at the end of the year) is recognized, the value of which almost completely corresponds to the decision of the Stockholm Arbitration.
Thus, the arbitration award in Sweden had a strong impact on Gazprom's profits. In 2017, it was only 100 billion rubles. For comparison, in 2016 it was 411 billion.
The Stockholm Arbitration Court in late February decided to pay "Naftogaz" 4.6 billion dollars in the dispute over the contract for transit from 2009. However, the court ordered the Ukrainian side to pay debts for gas supplies of $ 2 billion. Thus, Gazprom's debt amounted to 2.6 billion dollars.
In Gazprom, in response, they announced a break in contracts with Naftogaz and readiness to challenge the court's decision by all available means.
