As Kommersant learned, a villa of the 15th century was sold at auction in Italy, which belonged to the former head of the Cosmos NGO Andrei Chernyakov, accused of TFR of stealing a loan from the Bank of Moscow (BM-Bank, part of VTB Group) and other crimes. Old real estate was acquired by the company of the famous German businessman Heinz Thiele, a member of the Forbes list. The proceeds will go towards paying off Mr. Chernyakov’s debts.
According to Kommersant, the auction was held in Florence on November 19. The managing company displayed Villa Il Poderino, nine buildings located on a land plot of more than 3.5 hectares. The main one is a three-story house with 15 bedrooms of the 15th century built with an olive garden and a vineyard, owned by Andrei Chernyakov.
During the bidding by a notary public, a winner was determined - for € 7.2 million, the villa went to LBG Italy S.r.l. ("Daughter" of the German LBG Immobilien). Its beneficial owner is the well-known businessman Heinz Thiele, who occupies the 91st place in the Forbes international ranking, - the main shareholder of the German concern Knorr-Bremse AG.
Andrey Chernyakov, being the head and shareholder of LLC NPO Cosmos, acted as guarantor of loans worth more than 20 billion rubles issued by the Bank of Moscow to companies belonging to the Cosmos group. The loan debt was not repaid in a timely manner, and therefore the bank began judicial recovery procedures both in Russia and abroad.
On October 20, 2016, the High Court of Justice of England and Wales ruled in favor of the Bank of Moscow - on the recognition and enforcement of the decisions of the Meshchansky court on the recovery of 15 billion rubles from Mr. Chernyakov. in Britain. The court of the latter also arrested all property belonging to the former head of the Cosmos NGOs around the world. Based on this decision, the bank secured Mr. Chernyakov bankrupt, and his financial managers, understanding the entrepreneur’s assets, found a villa in Florence, which was arrested. The proceeds from the sale of real estate will be used to pay off Mr. Chernyakov’s debt to BM-Bank, which is estimated at 20 billion rubles.
The ex-head of the Cosmos NGO himself, who agreed to a voluntary extradition from Poland, is now being held in the Sailor's Sailor Sailing. Investigator of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was charged with ordinary fraud, credit fraud and non-payment of salaries (part 4 of article 159, part 4 of article 159.1 and part 2 of article 145.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), which the businessman did not recognize. According to the accused, the debts to his creditors were repaid at the expense of the property of Cosmos, once the country's largest construction company.
“VTB Group will continue to seek full repayment of Andrei Chernyakov’s debt in accordance with applicable law,” the VTB press service told Kommersant.
