The head of the Udmurt Republic is suspected of receiving about 140 million rubles in bribes. As eyewitnesses specify, Alexander Soloviev and his attendants flew the usual morning flight No. 18 301 Izhevsk-Moscow, but handcuffs from the head of the republic showed handcuffs. With him were four "escorts": two in uniform and two in civilian clothes.

The spokeswoman for the head of the region, Elena Kapitonenko, initially did not confirm or deny the information about Alexander Solovyov's detention, specifying only that searches in the administration of the head of Udmurtia are not held, but he himself is not in the workplace. The planned government meeting with participation of the heads of administrations of municipalities will be held by the Prime Minister of the Government. "Regarding the Head of the Udmurt Republic, Alexander Solovyov, a criminal case has been instituted in connection with the commission of two particularly serious crimes envisaged in part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe by an official holding a public office of the Russian Federation on an especially large scale)," Representative of the Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation Svetlana Petrenko. The investigation believes that in 2014-2016 Solovyov received bribes from representatives of organizations involved in the construction of bridge crossings by 139 million rubles, and another 2.7 million - in the form of a share in a commercial organization. Apparently, it means the failure of the construction of the bridge across the Kama, for the opening of which the president arrived.

Some commentators also suggest that an "urgent call" to the capital may be closely related to the so-called road workers' business, which the FSB of the UR investigates since last year. Figures of this case are, in particular, employees of the Ministry of Transport and Roads of the Republic. As part of the investigation in November 2016, searches were conducted at the offices of the largest companies involved in the construction of roads in Udmurtia: Avtodormostroekt OJSC, Baikonur LLC, Udmurtavtodor State Unitary Enterprise. Earlier, FSB officers detained the deputy minister of transport of the republic, the namesake of the head of the region - Alexander Solovyov, criminal cases were brought against him for abuse of office and abuse. In addition, the resignation had to be submitted to two vice-premiers, Andrei Kuznetsov and Svetlana Smirnova.

Commenting on the series of resignations and detentions, the head of the region then said: "What we have today in the government today is life. And nowhere you can not get away from it ... And the fact that today accused road builders ... There are power structures. There will be a solution. ... If they are to blame, they will be responsible for everything. Including me".

According to the Udmurt Internet newspaper "Strizh", at the moment at the place of actual residence of Alexander Solovyov (in the apartment owned by his daughter Evgenia Sirik) are being searched. The detention of Alexander Solovyov was reported to President Putin. The Investigative Committee intends to petition for the arrest of the head of the region.
