In January-July 2017, 2 million Russians flew to Antalya airport, the airport said. At the same time, the tourist flow in July was the largest in the last four years. Only in this month 684 415 people flew to the Antalya resorts, which is higher than in the pre-crisis July 2014 (see the chart for more details).
Russians are still the most at the resorts of the Antalya coast, follows from statistics: their share for seven months is 38.5%, which is several times more than Germans (15.9%) and Ukrainians (8.1%). In total, through the airport of Antalya in January-July traveled 5.2 million tourists.
Antalya is the only airport in this region. Popular resorts here are considered Kemer at the expense of a large hotel and prestigious Belek, notes TezTour representative Larisa Akhanova. Many tourists who buy budget tours for family holidays in Alanya, too, fly through the airport of Antalya. A typical tour in Antalya is a 4-5 star hotel for a week with an all-inclusive system, Konstantin Pobedkin, co-founder of Onlinetours, notes: they account for 85% of all sales in this area, the average check per person is 42,000 rubles.
The travel agent Onlinetours Antalya makes 89% of sales against 11% of reservations on the Aegean coast of Turkey (Marmaris, Bodrum and other resorts), the tour operator TezTour ratio of 85 to 15%, their representatives note. The Aegean coast is more respectable, explains Akhanov: in Antalya, historically the infrastructure assumed a massive resort holiday.
While Turkey was closed from November 2015 to September 2016, tourists were looking for other options, but now they have returned to their usual hotels, says Dmitry Malyutin, general director of the Level.travel service. In addition, Turkish hoteliers are reducing prices, attracting Russians in return for a falling European tourist flow, primarily from Western European countries, notes Akhanova. Thanks to this, Turkey is much cheaper in comparison with popular alternative destinations - Greece, Cyprus and Russia, adds Pobedkin.
Demand for Turkey will continue to grow further, believes Malyutin. Velvet season (September - October) is planned to hold about 35% of tourists service. By the end of 2017 the flow of tourists to Turkey may exceed even 3,5 million tourists-Russians declared by the Turkish authorities, Akhanova said. This will be comparable to the flow for 2015, when sanctions were imposed against Turkey in November, but a year earlier the number of tourists was significantly higher - 4.2 million people, according to Rosstat. To prevent the successful season can only unstable geopolitical situation and security threats directly in the resort areas. And in the case of the opening of Egypt, some tourists will go there, adds Malyutin.
