The United Grain Company (UGC) discovered an "unprecedented theft of grain" from a federal intervention fund. 19,035 tons of grain worth 202.3 million rubles were stolen from the Oryol grain base No. 36, which is part of the OZK, Interfax reports. The base is one of the keepers of the state fund grain.
"In the course of one of the control events on November 15 of this year, OZK jointly with representatives of the Russian Agricultural Bank, the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Oryol at Orlovskaya Grain Base N OVK established an unprecedented amount - 19 thousand 035 tons worth 202 million 284 thousand rubles, "- said in a statement.
On this fact, the investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Eagle on the application of UZK opened a criminal case.
The company reports that, in cooperation with the FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the General Prosecutor's Office and the Agricultural Bank, it is strengthening measures to control the quantitative and qualitative preservation of grain of the federal intervention fund. For this, scheduled and unscheduled inspections are carried out.
The UGC was established on March 20, 2009 to develop the infrastructure of the grain market, realize the export potential of Russian grain, and conduct trade and procurement activities in the domestic grain market. The company is a state-owned grain operator and agent for public procurement and commodity interventions.
The state owns 50% plus 1 share of OZK. The second shareholder is the Summa group of Ziyavudin Magomedov, who has been under arrest since March on charges of fraud, embezzlement on a large scale and the organization of the criminal community.
At the end of October, UGC general director Mikhail Kiyko reported that before the end of the year, Magomedov’s package would be transferred to VTB. The press service of the Summa group then, however, stated that the 50% share minus 1 share of OZK "is still owned by Ziyavudin Magomedov."
