The former minister of the press and the former head of Gazprom-Media, Mikhail Lesin, who was found dead in a hotel in Washington in November 2015, died because of an accident that led to alcohol abuse, was concluded with the FBI.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States published part of the report on the investigation into the death of former Russian press minister and ex-head of Gazprom-Media Mikhail Lesin, who in 2015 was found dead in a hotel room in Washington. It follows from the documents that the former head of the Russian department died because of an accident. Thus, the secret services found no evidence in favor of the violent death of Lesin.

"The investigation found that there is no evidence to support the version according to which Lesin died as a result of the murder or illegal actions of third parties," the FBI report said.

Investigators came to the conclusion that the former minister really died because of a stupid blow. But what happened, they assured the FBI, was an accident that occurred against the background of alcohol abuse: Lesin, concluded in the department, could not keep his balance, because he was in a state of intoxication.

The report also indicates that the day before the death of the minister pretty drunk. The same was said in the publication of The Washington Post, which in the beginning of December last year, referring to the report of the New York police, reported that in the last days before his death he constantly consumed alcohol - from the moment of settling in the hotel Four Seasons in the afternoon of November 2 2015 and as long as he was found dead at the Dupont Circle.

Immediately after his death in November 2015, it was reported that Lesin died of a heart attack. In turn, in the official conclusion of forensic experts it was said that the Russian minister died of "blunt head trauma", as well as "severe intoxication with ethanol". The examination also found that Lesin's limbs were injured.

In 2016, American law enforcers closed the case of Lesin's death. The US police then said that the former head of Gazprom-Media died as a result of an accident, because he fell several times in his hotel room because of alcohol intoxication, which resulted in injuries to the head and other parts of the body.

In the summer of 2017, the publication Buzzfeed drew the public's attention to the fact that Lesin's death was violent. The interlocutors of the publication noted that Lesin was "beaten with a bat". In Washington police this information was refuted.
