Next week, in the Pre-Trial Chamber of the Court of Appeal of Aix-en-Provence, an important court session will be held that will deal with various issues of judicial procedure and acts in the case of Senator and billionaire Suleiman Kerimov, said the prosecutor of Nice, Jean-Michel Prétr. "It's about the judicial procedure, not about the essence of the process," said the prosecutor.

During Kerimov's last visit to Russia in May, it was reported that the senator was hospitalized because of a heart attack. The prosecutor said that he did not know the details of Kerimov's illness and the details of his treatment, but noted that the conditions of his detention in France had not changed. He added that Kerimov "regularly makes requests to facilitate or cancel the obligations imposed on him."

Now Kerimov by decision of the court of Nice is under a written undertaking not to leave the place and can not leave Nice. But in cases where the senator asked to leave France for a short time and go to Russia, the investigating judge regularly allowed Kerimov to do it, the prosecutor said.

"As for other measures, such as the final return of a passport or the possibility of residing in another place, in addition to the one that was determined to him (Nice .- RBC), this is not agreed at the moment," he said. "Until now, Kerimov strictly and completely observes the conditions of judicial control," the prosecutor stressed.

Suleiman Kerimov was detained at Nice airport on November 20, 2017. In France, Kerimov is suspected of tax evasion by buying elite real estate at a low price. According to the investigation, the total amount of transactions with villas in the south of France was about € 400 million. Kerimov is under a written undertaking not to leave and a pledge of € 40 million.

Despite this, Kerimov regularly left France. In December, the Nice prosecutor's office allowed Kerimov to go to Russia for three days to see her sick relative, whose name was not disclosed. In Sovfed noted that the senator came to Russia because of "serious health condition of one of the relatives." In January, during the next visit, Kerimov had time to meet with the chairman of the Council of Federation Valentina Matvienko. In February, he again asked the prosecutor's office to leave for Russia "for personal and family reasons." In May, Kerimov was to take part in the inauguration ceremony of Putin, but he could not do it because of hospitalization.
