During Kerimov's last visit to Russia in May, it was reported that the senator was hospitalized because of a heart attack. The prosecutor said that he did not know the details of Kerimov's illness and the details of his treatment, but noted that the conditions of his detention in France had not changed. He added that Kerimov "regularly makes requests to facilitate or cancel the obligations imposed on him."

"Until now, Kerimov strictly and completely observes the conditions of judicial control," the prosecutor stressed.

Suleiman Kerimov was detained at Nice airport on November 20, 2017. In France, Kerimov is suspected of tax evasion by buying elite real estate at a low price. According to the investigation, the total amount of transactions with villas in the south of France was about € 400 million. Kerimov is under a written undertaking not to leave and a pledge of € 40 million.

Despite this, Kerimov regularly left France. In December, the Nice prosecutor's office allowed Kerimov to go to Russia for three days to see her sick relative, whose name was not disclosed. In January, during the next visit, Kerimov had time to meet with the chairman of the Council of Federation Valentina Matvienko. In February, he again asked the prosecutor's office to leave for Russia "for personal and family reasons."
