Subordinates of Alexander Bortnikov took a lot and often

The FSB went through a difficult year of sweeps and landings.
Never since the day the Federal Security Service was established did so many of its employees immediately find themselves under investigation and by the courts. The Chekists were accused of taking bribes, fraud, robbery, banditry, and even creating an organized crime community. At the same time, the heads of the special services themselves did not touch upon the problems of subordinates.

The most prominent of the Chekists who ended up in jail this year was Colonel Kirill Cherkalin, who headed the 2nd “banking” department of the “K” department of the FSB economic security service. The officer oversaw not only the work of the Central Bank and the DIA, but also decided the fate of dozens of banks. For example, for a bribe to him in the amount of $ 850 thousand, the leadership of Transportny Bank, which was used in schemes to transfer money from Russia to Moldova, extended the bank's existence for several years.

Officially earned over the years of service a little more than 17.5 million rubles. Officer Cherkalin found property worth 6.3 billion rubles, including five apartments and two country houses. Its assets were confiscated by decision of the Golovinsky district court. Moreover, Cyril Cherkalin with him, in general, was agreed.

Owing to the testimony of Cherkalin, who pleaded guilty, additional episodes will obviously appear in the criminal case of his former head, deputy head of the K department, Dmitry Frolov, who was initially arrested for fraud. According to Kommersant’s information, the repentant fighter against banking crime, Cherkalin even drew a diagram of Colonel Frolov’s corruption contacts, which he knew about.

It is interesting that the FSB and the TFR came to Colonel Cherkalin's Directorate of Internal Security (FSB) thanks to the testimony of another colonel, Mikhail Gorbatov. The latter was seconded to the presidential administration, got caught by the CSS officers on several episodes of fraud, but instead of ten years of strict regime, he received four and a half years of usual cooperation and will soon be released.

The case did not end with only three colonels of the central FSB apparatus: for the first time in history, two investigators of the special services investigation department, Aleksey Kolbov and Sergey Belousov, accused of extorting a bribe totaling 65 million rubles, were taken into custody. in bitcoins for conditional punishment to the former general director of FSUE Izvestia Publishing House Erast Galumov, accused of fraud and other crimes.

Finally, the criminal case of robbery committed against one of the clients of the Moscow Metallurg bank turned out to be the largest in the number of security officers. For nearly 140 million rubles seized during the raid under the guise of a search, dozens of Chekists, including from the well-known Alfa and Vympel departments of the FSB Special Purpose Center, got into pre-trial detention centers and under house arrests.

A little later, the deputy head of the capital construction department of the FSB activity support service, Yuri Sulin, was under investigation, who was accused of exceeding official powers with causing serious consequences. According to the investigation, due to the actions of the official, the department could lose about 657 million rubles. during the construction of various facilities, including within the framework of the federal target program “State Border of the Russian Federation (2012–2020)”. Despite the impressive amount of the alleged damage, Mr. Sulin was not sent to a pre-trial detention center, but under house arrest, having been forbidden to comment on his case in the media and to leave 500 m from the apartment while walking.

And the year ended with a completely scandalous story: the FSB investigator accused the FSB department in Moscow and the region of the most serious crimes - the organization of a criminal community and banditry. Allegedly, they used members of the regional public organization "United People’s Communal Partnerships" (known as the private military company (PMC) "E.N.O.T. Bldg."), Who distinguished themselves in military operations and humanitarian operations in eastern Ukraine and in Syria, for robberies and thefts committed after searches and seizures of documents from defendants in criminal cases. True, despite the accusations that threatened 25-year terms, the statements of the victims and the recognition of individual "raccoons", one of the Chekists was released by a military court itself, which considered the incriminated acts to be doubtful. The other, on the contrary, was released by the investigation after pleading guilty and is now under state protection.

It should be noted that almost all the security officers under investigation tried to get testimonies against their leaders in order to then obviously blame the FSB officers standing above them, but in none of these cases did the participants in the proceedings reach the generals.
