Prospective daughter of Vladimir Putin will develop genetics

A list of members of the Council for the implementation of the Federal Scientific and Technical Program for the Development of Genetic Technologies, in which Vorontsov is mentioned, is given in a decree signed by President Putin. Attention paid to him "Open Media".

Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told Vedomosti on Friday when asked whether Maria Vorontsov, included in the council, was Putin’s daughter: “We don’t traditionally answer such questions.”

Why does the government invest money in genetics

The government approved the federal program for the development of genetic technologies for 2019–2027 on April 22. The government plans to spend 127 billion rubles over nine years to implement this program. Most of this money - 111 billion rubles - will be allocated from the federal budget, the resolution says. The program includes both technical support and research, as well as the applied use of genetic technologies. Including the development of biological products, diagnostic systems and immunobiological tools for health, biotechnology for agriculture and industry.

Under the program, it is planned to create at least three world-class genomic research centers by the end of 2020. Their role is to conduct research and development in the field of genomic research involving Russian and foreign scientists. The goal is the entry of Russia by 2024 into the top five leading countries in research and development, including in this area.

The creation of genomic research centers is carried out on the national project "Science", the total funding of which will be 636 billion rubles.
