Ministry of Defense demands money from spy satellite manufacturers

The lawsuit against the Soyuz rocket manufacturer was filed by the department in an arbitration court on November 15.

The Russian Ministry of Defense filed a lawsuit in the Moscow Arbitration Court to recover almost 2.15 billion rubles. from the Samara Rocket and Space Center (RCC) Progress, specializing in the production of Soyuz family of launch vehicles and Earth remote sensing spacecraft.

From the file of the case on the court’s website it follows that the lawsuit arrived at the court on November 15 and the date of its consideration has not yet been determined. The essence of the claims in the file cabinet has not yet been disclosed.

RBC sent inquiries to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, the press service of the Moscow Arbitration Court and the press service of the Samara Rocket and Space Center Progress.

On the Progress RCC website, it is named the only company in the world that launches launch vehicles from four cosmodromes: Baikonur, Plesetsk, the Vostochny and Guiana Space Center cosmodrome. The Soyuz-FG and Soyuz-2 launch vehicles produced by the RCC are named basic in the Russian launch vehicle system, since they account for the bulk of spacecraft launches under the Federal Space Program and international space cooperation.

November 8, 2019 marks the 15th anniversary of the start of operation of the Soyuz-2 launch vehicle. During this time, 41 missiles were launched. Since 2020, the Soyuz-2 launch vehicle is planned to launch manned spacecraft of the Soyuz MS type.
