At the request of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Tverskoy District Court of Moscow arrested yesterday the former head of the business support department of JSC "United Grain Company" (OZK) Roman Gribanov. Within the criminal case of the co-owners of the "Sum" group Ziyavudin and Magomed Magomedov, he is charged with embezzlement in an especially large amount and participation in the criminal community.
Roman Gribanov, who was a witness in the OPS case of the Magomedov brothers, was detained by officers of the GUEBiPK Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB on Monday after a search in his Moscow apartment. In the course of investigative actions, he was confiscated documents that may be relevant to the investigation, as well as 300 thousand rubles. The detainee claimed that it was family savings, which he asked to return, since he would need funds to pay lawyers.
In court, the defense of Roman Gribanov asked to postpone the meeting for 72 hours to collect and submit certificates of his illnesses and documents characterizing him. As it turned out, the defendant is a veteran of the fighting, who has awards for the war in Chechnya.
The judge did not postpone the hearing. A representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that Roman Gribanov was suspected of committing grave crimes - Part 2 of Art. 210 and part 4 of Art. 160 CC (participation in organized crime and embezzlement). According to the investigation, in 2012-2013 he accompanied the purchase of grain from a registered in the UK group of companies Newbay Investments L. P. Having received an absolute prepayment of about $ 20 million, Newbay was supposed to supply OZK grain from Ukraine. Transactions allegedly broke due to the events that occurred soon in this country. In turn, the companies that acted as guarantors under the contracts, and one of them LLC Admata (engaged in the hotel business in the Crimea) belonged to Mr. Gribanov, the damage was not compensated. The investigation suspects that the deals were fictitious - the money OZK allegedly were withdrawn to the structures associated with Ziyavudin Magomedov.
Roman Gribanov himself said that he was not acquainted with the Magomedov brothers, and one of them, Ziyavudin, was only seen at the meeting. According to the defendant's version, the investigation caused suspicions of five contracts, four of which, he noted, were actually executed. "The grain was actually shipped," Mr. Gribanov said. He expressed his readiness to cooperate with the investigation if he was sent home arrest instead of a cell. The court considered that he could abscond, and arrested him until November 3. In the OCK, they refrained from commenting, noting only that Mr. Gribanov had not worked for them for a long time. Defenders of the Magomedov brothers reported that they learned about the new person involved in a high-profile case only from media reports.
The squandering of OCS funds is one of seven episodes of this case. Six more investigations qualified as fraud in a particularly large amount (Part 4, Article 159 of the Criminal Code). They include, in particular, fraud in the preparation of land for the construction of the stadium "Baltika" in Kaliningrad and the reconstruction of Khrabrovo airport in this city, as well as the construction of the island of Krestovsky in St. Petersburg, where the "Zenith Arena" was built. The total damage caused by the actions of the OPS participants is estimated at 2.5 billion rubles. The main figurants of the investigation are the brothers Magomedov and the CEO of Intex, Artur Maxidov, his involvement in theft is denied. They will stay in custody until at least November 5. Together with them, the assets of the majority of companies included in the Suma Group were also arrested.
