The former defendant in the Oboronservis case and the ex-official of the Ministry of Defense Evgenia Vasilyeva was awarded the title of Honorary Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts. Vasilyeva announced this on her Facebook page.
“I thank the Russian Academy of Arts for the honor of being an honorary academician of the Russian Academy of Arts,” she wrote.
On the website of the Russian Academy of Arts, it is indicated that Vasilieva is a participant in numerous group and personal exhibitions at Russian and foreign exhibition sites. Her works have been exhibited at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the State Museum of the Orient, Palazzo Doebbing Museum in Italy, Residence Gallery in France and other galleries.
In May 2015, Evgenia Vasilyeva, who headed the Department of Property Relations of the Ministry of Defense, was found guilty of fraud, embezzlement of agency fees and money laundering, and abuse of office. The court sentenced her to five years in a colony. Taking into account the fact that since November 2012 Vasilyeva has been under house arrest, she had 2.5 years to serve in prison. At the end of August, Vasilyeva was released on parole.
