The development of transport infrastructure is one of the most expensive articles of the Russian budget. Forbes compiled a compilation of the most important changes in the transport sector in the coming year.

1. Flights to Egypt

The promise of Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov to resume air communication with Egypt could not fail to be on the first line of our collection of the most high-profile transport topics for 2018. But how else? Several million Russian tourists and tour operators are waiting for this for two years. In 2014, according to the Ministry of Tourism of Egypt, the country was rested by 3 million Russians, and in 2017, despite the absence of air traffic, according to September, in Egypt rested more than 75,000 Russian tourists.

So, according to the minister, the air service can be resumed in February 2018. For starters, aircraft will be able to fly on the route Moscow-Cairo, when it will be possible to get directly to the tourist Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada is not yet reported, although tour operators expect that they will be able to send vacationers to these resorts in July 2018. So you can start packing your bags.

2. The beginning of construction of the Moscow central diameters

A grandiose project, I'm not afraid of this, is an attempt by the Moscow authorities to make the same explosive transport hub as the Moscow Central Ring. According to the project, routes of electric trains will go through the city center and will connect the radial directions of the Moscow railway. By and large, the creation of the IDC is more the reconstruction of the existing infrastructure, its addition and expansion than the construction of a new one. Even now, the Kursk, Riga and Smolensk, and Savelovo and Smolensk directions are connected by diametrical connections.

The first line, which will be built as part of the project, will connect Lobnya and Odintsovo. It is planned that the first passengers it will be able to take in 2019. The most active work will begin just in 2018, so this project was included in our list.

According to the plans, the WDC will be close in terms of comfort to the MCC: a single city ticket system, convenient navigation, accessibility for low-mobility citizens, integration with the MCC and the subway, comfortable "Swallowtail" level trains that run around the MCC, arriving every 6 minutes per rush hour etc. On this project, 40 billion rubles will be spent from the treasury of Moscow and the Russian Railways at the first stage.

3. A single transponder for all toll roads in Russia

For people who travel a lot on the toll roads of Russia, there is good news. In 2018, several transponders will not have to be molded on the windshield. Operators of the toll roads of Russia sat down, talked, and yet came to a sensible decision: the main thing is to pay for the fare and not create traffic jams at the entrance, and even whose device will be used in this case is the fifth. Thus, drivers can pay for travel on any toll road of the country by a transponder of any operator. The system will start working on January 15, 2018.


By the way, for Muscovites "Avtodor" prepared another New Year's gift. From December 30 until the end of January 2018, the owners of the transponder will be able to travel for free on the Moscow-Solnechnogorsk M-11 route at night and in the morning from 1:00 to 6:00.

4. The Crimean bridge

Of course, we can not but say about the bridge across the Kerch Strait. Moreover, according to VTsIOM research, it is the theme of bridge construction that tops the rating of the main events of the country in the opinion of Russians. Automobile traffic on the bridge across Kerch is planned to be launched in December 2018, and the first trains will leave in a year - in 2019. However, at the end of December it turned out that due to an error in the project concerning the soil for the construction of the roadbed, the cost of the bridge would increase by another 3 billion rubles, but the Ministry of Transport swears that the announced terms will not be disrupted.

After the completion of the construction, the bridge across the Kerch Strait will be the longest in Russia - 19 km (the longest surface bridge in the world - the Qingdao Bridge, is in China and its length is 42.5 km).

In the middle of December, voting for the name of the bridge to the Crimea ended: 64% of votes received the Crimean bridge. It is this name that appears on maps and information indexes. 24% of the votes received Kerch Bridge, 6% - Reunion Bridge. The following variants of names were also proposed: Russian, Bridge of Freedom, Bridge of Unity, Bridge of Hope, etc.

5. The beginning of the construction of BCM

The construction of a high-speed railway line (BCM) "Moscow-Kazan" from Moscow to Vladimir is scheduled for 2018. Unfortunately, the launch of the highway is planned only in 2023, and until Kazan reaches the road no earlier than 2025.

Provided that for the first time the project was talked about in 2008, and the first project of the SCM was presented in 2010, the beginning of the construction of the site gives at least some hope for the possibility of implementing the project, which will spend about 1.5 trillion rubles.

The Moscow-Kazan SCM will pass through the territory of seven regions of the Russian Federation and will connect the capitals of the regions to a single 770 km long route with stops at 16 stations. Thanks to the highway, the journey time between Moscow and Kazan will be reduced from 12 to 3.5 hours. It is assumed that the trains will follow the highway at a speed of over 250 km / h.

It is also planned that, until 2030, Moscow-Rostov-on-Don-Adler Moscow-Rostov-Moscow-Kazan-Yekaterinburg (with the subsequent inclusion of Perm, Ufa and Chelyabinsk) projects will be implemented.

By the way, the former head of the Ministry of Economic Development Alexei Ulyukaev said in 2013 that the SCM project is "risky", and the calculation of passenger traffic on the highway is inaccurate. But Alexey Ulyukaev turned out to be "risky". It remains only to hope that the fate of the high-speed highway will not be as sad as the final of the career of the former head of the Ministry of Economic Development.
