Brussels Airlines will refuse to use the Russian aircraft Sukhoi Superjet 100 in favor of the Canadian CRJ-900 Bombardier, reports the newspaper L'Echo. The reason is technical failures due to which several flights had to be postponed or canceled. Cristina Foerster, general director of the airline, noted that Brussels Airlines intends to withdraw the Superjet from the park as soon as possible.

“About serious breakdowns in the Superjet 100 for a long time not to hear, children's diseases have already been cured. Most likely, we are talking about private difficulties with timely servicing of the aircraft, suggested Roman Gusarov, the chief editor of the portal Avia.ru. - Brussels Airlines leased these planes from the Irish CityJet. What is called, they took the key: together with the crews and technical support. The cars are new, under warranty, so that some kind of breakdowns, and all planes without exception break, in theory, should not bother Brussels Airlines. However, there is a shortage of local specialists in the aircraft and a shortage of spare parts. ”

The main problem of the Russian liner is small batch production, Gusarov continued: “Investments for the development of foreign technical centers require enormous, and they are not, as sales of the SS-100 are sluggish. Initially, the wrong segment was chosen to create a new aircraft: in the best years of this type of cars around the world about 100 units were sold per year, and now the demand for them has fallen by half. There is a full-fledged technical center for servicing the “Superjet” in Italy, but this is clearly not enough. ”

The refusal of Brussels Airlines by Sukhoi Superjet 100 does not hurt the reputation of the Russian manufacturer, Gusarov stressed: “The machines were under operating leasing, the airline simply did not want to renew the contract. We rented, flew - now have the right to return CityJet aircraft. ”

In 2017, Brussels Airlines tied high hopes to the Superjet 100, and the ship’s comfort and operational reliability was noted. “We do not consider it as a“ Russian aircraft ”, but we consider it as an aircraft from a Russian manufacturer, which took production technology around the world to create a modern design corresponding to the 21st century,” noted the airline. The reality was disappointing: according to Foerster, even the manuals for servicing cars were not all translated into English, so the company had to contact the Russian support service.

According to aviation expert Vladimir Karnozov, the negative experience of Brussels Airlines is associated with a small number of aircraft in the park: “The company took these cars to see, try, because the Superjet does indeed outnumber the similar Bombardier or Embraer cars in a number of parameters. However, the disadvantages of maintaining a small fleet of four cars outweighed the competitive advantages of the Russian aircraft for Brussels Airlines. When the park is large, like that of Aeroflot, 50 SS-100 units, then it makes sense to train our own technical specialists, then all minor difficulties disappear and logistics problems with spare parts are solved. And four cars simply create an unprofitable “diversity” in the general fleet of Brussels Airlines, and the maintenance outsourced, apparently, did not justify itself. ”

Sukhoi Superjet 100 is a short-haul passenger aircraft developed by the Sukhoi division of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft CJSC in 2007. This is the first aircraft made in Russia after the collapse of the USSR. Alenia Aeronautica, Snecma and Boeing participated in the project. Deliveries of cars began in 2011. As of October 2018, 174 aircraft were built, 148 aircraft were handed over to customers.
