The head of VTB Andrei Kostin and the top management of the group met the guests of the traditional reception at the investment forum “Russia is Calling!” In the style of the heroes of the Harry Potter saga.

The evening reception, taking place in Moscow on Wednesday, November 20, as in previous years, is thematic in nature. This year, the main plot of the evening was the story of a series of novels by Joan Rowling.

As follows from the video from the opening (available to RBC) and from the description of one of the participants in the event, the plot unfolds in Hogwarts City (in the original novel, Hogwarts is the main educational institution for wizards). In the image of the main characters: Harry Potter - Yuri Solovyov (First Deputy President and Chairman of the Management Board of VTB), Ron Weasley - Alexey Yakovitsky (CEO of VTB Capital), Hermione Granger - Elena Kolesnik (Senior Vice President of VTB Bank).

All the characters, according to the plot of the production, are students of the faculty of Vetebor - "Quidditch champion since 2008." There are also faculties in Hogwarts City - Sberebin, Alfenbach and Tinkomif. For the heroes, a warning sounds: “Caution - do not get into sanctions turbulence!”. The main villain is the wizard Dollar-de-Mort.

The head of VTB, Andrei Kostin, addressed the audience as the head of the Hogwarts City school, Andrei Dumbledovich (in the original, Albus Dumbledore).

Elena Kolesnik: What is it? Salute? Someone seems to have a holiday.

Andrei Kostin: No, this is Dollar De Mort.

Alexei Yakovitsky: He has long dreamed of capturing the entire planet.

Yuri Soloviev: And I remember him still very small, when he cost only 6 rubles.

Andrey Kostin: Is it really small? I remember him at 60 cents. But we will fight him back!

Last year, the theme of the evening was the universe of Star Wars: then Kostin addressed the guests of the event in the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Solovyov in the image of a Jedi Luke Skywalker. In the dialogues, the heroes said that “the Death Star has repeatedly tried to intimidate the Republic with sanctions and strike at the entire investment galaxy,” but “there has not yet been born such a Sith who would have revealed the wisdom of the Jedi.”

In 2017, the theme of the evening was the 1950s, with the slogan: "Investors from all countries, unite." Costumes of Kostin and Solovyov reminded some guests of the images of Joseph Stalin and Nikita Khrushchev. But the bank then explained that top managers were “dressed in suits typical of that time” and “outward resemblance to the people you mentioned, such as mustaches and stuff” were not reproduced.

The official opening of the 11th Russia Calling! Investment Forum, which was attended by President Vladimir Putin, took place on Wednesday, November 20.
