Monaco Prosecutor's Office reached Dmitry Rybolovlev

The Russian oligarch was arrested in a corruption and "influence trading" case.

The Russian billionaire, the president of the Monaco football club, Dmitry Rybolovlev, has been detained at the request of the prosecutor's office of Monaco, Le Monde newspaper reported. According to her, in the apartments Rybolovleva in the residential complex La BelleEpoque in Monte Carlo were searched.

The publication said that the investigation into the billionaire openly including on the facts of "corruption and trafficking of influence", as well as complicity in these crimes.

"In the first half of the day on Tuesday, November 6, Rybolovlev appeared for questioning, which was called some time ago, and is still in the office," said RBC source familiar with the circumstances of the case.

“We regret that the mystery of the investigation was violated, as evidenced by the appearance of information in open sources, and we ask you to strictly observe the presumption of innocence of Dmitry Rybolovlev,” said Rybolovlev’s lawyer.

The Consulate General of Russia in Marseille did not receive information about the detention of Rybolovlev, a representative of a diplomatic institution told RBC. “We did not receive such information,” the Consulate General said.

RBC asked the press attaché of the Russian embassy in France, Sergei Parinov, for comment.

Rybolovlev was detained on Tuesday morning, according to the newspaper, and several other people were also detained in this case.

Le Monde recalls that in September 2017, in the framework of the investigation of the case, the Minister of Justice of Monaco Philip Narmino left his post after the newspaper published an article about the friendly relations between Narmino and Rybolovlev.
