The content of the sludge accumulator - pumping water and other measures - requires about 60 million rubles annually. We understand that solving the problems of liquidating accumulated damage is a long-term issue. We hope to work out a joint decision together with the ministry. Perhaps in the future there will be a technology for processing waste. As part of the agreement, the parties also plan to begin discussion of the issue of attracting budget funds for the maintenance of the dumps of the Russian Chromium. Another 200 million rubles for these purposes is provided by Berezovsky mine. As noted in the "Russian Chrome", since 2000 the company invested in environmental projects in Pervouralsk, including the modernization of its own production, more than 2.5 billion rubles, of which more than 800 million was spent on the maintenance of accumulated waste. It should be noted that environmentalists previously raised the issue of the danger of getting the waste products of the enterprise, which contained hexavalent chromium, into water bodies. Rosprirodnadzor bodies regularly recover funds from the enterprise for negative impact on the environment, while in the courts of the company it is possible to reduce the volume of claims by means of references to costs incurred in the framework of the environmental program and modernization of production.
"The level of environmental risks from the Russian chrome is gradually decreasing. However, reduction of emissions, discharges to water and waste generation of the enterprise is not so indicative, because the volumes of its production fall. In general, from the 1990s to 2017, the content of hexavalent chromium (carcinogen of hazard class I - Editorial Note) in water samples decreased by 5-10 times, which is connected, among other things, with the environmental activity of the enterprise. We hope that the plant will take part in the selection of soil samples, which we will conduct tomorrow in Pervouralsk and Revda in order to determine the content of heavy metals in them.
