Dmitry Pumpyansky went on the offensive against UMMC

The businessman in an attempt to expand its influence in the Urals, faced the general director of UMMC Andrey Kozitsyn.
The owner of the Pipe Metallurgical Company, Dmitry Pumpyansky, expressed public discontent with another Ural businessman, co-owner of UMMC Andrey Kozitsyn. He allegedly wants to "privatize" the authorities of the Sverdlovsk region and tries to place "his guys" there. Knowing the nature and methods of Pumpyansky to do business, experts are confident that in order to achieve the goal, he will not stop at nothing.

Conflict between Pumpyanskiy and ZMK

This Pumpyansky proved long ago. One need only recall his conflict with the owner of the Zlatoust Metallurgical Combine, Mark Leivikov. The Sinanra Group, which includes TMK, argued over what to produce at the plant. The fact is that Pumpyansky also has a share in the Zlatoust enterprise. As a result, the struggle for the degree of influence on ZMK began. As a result, Zlatoust Metallurgical Plant (ZMZ) was established on the basis of ZMK "Sinara". All the assets of Sinara were transferred to the newly established enterprise, which squeezed ZMK to such an extent that at the end it was established a competitive process.

Disagreements turned into attempts by both sides to establish sole control over the enterprise. The struggle was accompanied by high-profile litigation, which resulted in the victory of Mark Leivikov. In 2003, Sinara announced that it had sold its shares, and ZMK is no longer of interest to it. In 2004, the Zlatoust Metallurgical Combine (ZMC) was established on the basis of Zlatoust Metallurgical Plant. ZMK's assets were withdrawn to ZMC, and the bankruptcy proceeding was introduced into ZMK. The Sinarsky Pipe Plant (SinTZ), which is part of TMK, and the company Transkhimservis, controlled by Pumpyansky, said that ZMK owed them about 100 million rubles. SinTZ and Transkhimservice were recognized as creditors of ZMK and began to intervene in the procedure of bankruptcy, accusing Leyvikov of withdrawing all assets from the enterprise.

Leivikov for his part argued as he could, that Pumpyansky non-direct and even not quite legitimate ways gained control over ZMZ. Eventually, he failed to prove anything. The largest producer of special steels in Russia remained in the possession of Pumpyansky. Resigned to what had happened, Leivikov eventually received some crumbs in the form of compensation and refused further claims to the plant. Another case occurred in connection with the intention to conduct a public offering of shares (IPO) of TMK. When this was done, a lawsuit against the company's management was filed by the former shareholder of Rega-service. In her opinion, as a result of the operation, she suffered damage of not less than 20 million dollars. But the court took the side of Pumpyanskiy. Then the owners of "Rega-Service" went to the prosecutor's office. A case was opened about the illegal withdrawal of TMK's asset, but as a result, the supervisory agency did not find any signs of violation of the law by the defendants. As a result, the case was dismissed. As the evil tongues claimed, it was not without the intervention of Dmitry Pumpyansky himself. They even talked about the "kickbacks" that had to be given to them.

Pumpiansky's "Football"

A truly golden bottom, and in very muddy waters, was groped by Dmitry Pumpyansky in connection with the preparation of Yekaterinburg for the World Cup 2018. The Pumpyansky's companies somehow without really conducted tenders became both a developer and a subcontractor of the football stadium construction project, where to host World Cup matches. The contract value was as much as 7 billion rubles. At the same time, no one for some reason did not even mention that the "Sinara" group plans to destroy the old stadium, which, according to experts, is a historical and architectural monument.

But the Central Stadium has already been reconstructed from 2006 to 2011, and the main contractor was again the Sinara Group, which received from the budget for these purposes 2.5 billion rubles.

The Dark Past

When establishing himself as a businessman, Dmitry Pumtyansky was also, to put it mildly, not without a sin. He was persistently suspected of the closest relationship with the largest Ural organized crime group Uralmash; as they say, the businessman's property was also due to the blatant bandits. So, it was with the help of "Uralmash" that he managed to get control of most of the business of manufacturing industrial pipes. And this meant that Pumpyansky received guaranteed orders from oil and gas companies.

It is also said that due to the crime groups, he managed to avoid the responsibility of being sentenced to several criminal cases. In particular, everyone knows the story of how the Taganrog Metallurgical Combine got into Pumpyansky's hands. At the same time, Tagmet itself was controlled by a crime group the Rostov region. But "Uralmash" managed somehow to push them away from the influence in the enterprise. And then Pumpyansky himself used his business methods. The fact is that, in addition to crime, Tagmet was controlled by the Alfa Group in the struggle for power in the plant, even several attempts were made for armed seizures.

Ultimately, Alfa retreated by selling its stake to TMK. As was it forced to do that, is uknown. However, it is known that the city saw the murders of several persons who were in one way or another connected to Tagmet. As the market participants say, it was not without the direct involvement of a crime group. In a similar way, Pumpyansky got control over the Taganrog sea port.

Tell me, who's your friend

In France, Pumpyansky's friend, Ilya Kokarev, was arrested; for a long time he had been laundering the criminal money of Uralmash and Pumpyansky himself. A huge chunk of currency treasures controlled through Kokarev turned out to be frozen.

Syria.

In Syria, In Syria, the head of TMK opened his private business in  2004: he built a hotel in Latakia, as well as supplied pipes for the oil and gas complex of this country.

One hundred meters yacht

The money was laundered in the usual way for Russian business. Thus, the European law enforcement bodies were very interested by the fact that Dmitry Pumpyanskiy ordered the construction of a huge yacht on one of the shipyards. Only its length is not less than 100 meters. The approximate price of the ship is also estimated. The figures are from 100 to 150 million euros.

But today in the Sverdlovsk region there's an active reshuffling of the public authorities. Opponents of Pumpyansky are very serious, if you recall the same Kozitsyn. And here Pumpyansky, I think, will include all his levers of pressure. If, of course, he himself won't be "pressurized".
