Last Friday, the co-founder, general director and co-owner of Qiwi Sergey Solonin went on a round-the-world trip, representative of businessman Anastasia Polonskaya told Vedomosti. According to her, for nine months Solonin together with his family will visit 30 countries and start from Japan, North and South Korea, Australia. He will also visit Antarctica. Solonin explains his decision with the desire to stay with his family. Polonskaya clarifies that the businessman will move around the usual flights.
At the same time, Solonin will continue to participate in the company's projects "at the strategic level," she assured. "Fortunately, modern technologies allow solving problems from anywhere in the world," Polonskaya says. The company will also arrange delivery of documents signed by the businessman. Occasionally, he will arrive at meetings and board meetings, Polonskaya specifies.
To go on a round-the-world trip Solonin decided a year ago, six months later, preparations began for the trip. A long vacation of the head is not uncommon, and if it is planned in advance, then there should not be any difficulties with the management of the company, says Andrei Shcherbakov, managing director of the HR-bp consulting company. According to him, Qiwi has different levels of management - the general director has a lot of deputies of different levels, so there is someone to make decisions. Signing documents is also not a problem, because the more a company, the more they usually have more powers of attorney, he says.
Abroad, it happens that the CEO of the company goes on a long vacation, while, as a rule, not managing the company, says general director of the personnel company Mr.Hunt Aramis Karimov. But for the Russian business the long vacation of the company's first person is uncharacteristic, especially in industry, finance, agribusiness, he points out. The reason is that these companies are often very conservative and hierarchical - the employee must be in the workplace. But especially valuable employees can go on vacation for a long time - for example, financial directors, production directors, says Karimov.
In IT-sphere the situation is different, since this sector sets the mode for remote work, which extends to general directors and their top management, Karimov continues. As an example, he quotes the general director of Kaspersky Lab, Eugene Kaspersky, spending a lot of time on trips. "I passed into a state of life when I spend in Russia just over half a year," Kaspersky said in an interview with Vedomosti at the end of 2015. According to him, he can afford such a schedule, because the company is "all set up": " I do not do micromanagement. Business is divided into clear structures, led by each person, who has quite a lot of freedom [of action]. He does not ask me when he makes a decision. Moreover, he and the lower level have the same structure. She makes decisions at her level, and does not transfer it upstairs and does not wait for the boss to say something. "
