"Rusal" will offer office plankton to move from Moscow to Krasnoyarsk

The head office of the company moves to Siberia.
UC Rusal is preparing to move its head office to Krasnoyarsk. About this, referring to the acting governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, Alexander Uss, told Interfax.

"Now they [UC Rusal] are looking for a building. The first more than 500 jobs will be created already this year, - said Uss. "Thus, we will have people who will make management decisions related to the aluminum industry of the whole country." Last week, during the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Krasnoyarsk, UC Rusal CEO Vladislav Solovyov said that the company decided to transport its office to this city.

Now the head office of the company is located in Moscow. What is its number, how many employees will move to Krasnoyarsk and when this happens, the representative of UC Rusal did not specify. "The decision to move the Moscow office has been made," he said.

In Krasnoyarsk, one of the two largest aluminum smelters in the world is located - Rusal-Krasnoyarsk with a capacity of 1 million tons of metal per year. The other is also owned by UC Rusal and is located in Bratsk (Irkutsk region).

In Krasnoyarsk, the engineering and technology center is already located, engaged in key research projects for all of the company's enterprises, the engineering and construction division, the leading construction of the Boguchansky and Taishet aluminum smelters and providing repair work inside the company, moved to the full aluminum division, the representative of UC Rusal enumerates. "The organization of the relocation of other units is a time-consuming process and will take time," he added.

Uss connects the relocation of the Moscow office of UC Rusal to the plans of the company in the coming years to create about 100 new aluminum processing plants in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. "This will not necessarily be the direct management of [UC Rusal], perhaps the financial participation of the company, the provision of primary aluminum for processing," Ussa reports to Interfax.

UC Rusal is the second largest aluminum producer in the world, controlled by En + Oleg Deripaska. The parent company is registered on the island of Jersey. The holding's assets are located on four continents, but the main ones are in Eastern Siberia. In addition to the Krasnoyarsk and Bratsk factories, these are the Irkutsk, Sayanogorsk, Boguchansky and Taishet aluminum plants under construction, as well as the main En + power facilities that provide UC Rusal plants with electricity: a cascade of HPPs on the Angara River and Krasnoyarsk HPP.

If the move takes place, UC Rusal will be one of the few large industrial companies whose head office is not located in Moscow. For example, the head offices of UMMC and the Russian Copper Company are located in Yekaterinburg, Gazprom Neft and Ilim Group in St. Petersburg. A few years ago, the government was studying the possibility of transferring head offices of state companies to the regions. For example, "RusHydro" - in Krasnoyarsk. The decision was even supported by President Vladimir Putin: "The idea is right ... ... The only question is not to do it sharply and not to denude the treasury of Moscow itself" (quote from RIA Novosti). But only Gazprom is moving to a new purpose-built office, the Lakhta tower in St. Petersburg.
