This was reported on the website of the Investigative Committee. Employees of the SC and FSB also detained the head of the group of the company "Rospan" Nikita Kolesnikov. Another person involved in the case is the former director of Property Management Department of the Ministry of Culture Boris Mazo.
The investigation believes that it was more suspected that the state contract was concluded "without a real intention to execute it." Most of the funds received as an advance, the UK believes, was transferred to the organizations controlled by the suspects.
On 16 and 17 May, investigators and FSB officers conducted searches at the suspects' place of residence. The criminal case was opened under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed by an organized group on an especially large scale).
In October 2017 Dorogomilovsky Moscow Court found Pirumov guilty of embezzlement and sentenced to one year and six months in a general regime colony. Pirumov was released from custody in the courtroom in connection with the serving of the term. The prosecutor's office asked to sentence the ex-official to five years in prison. Pirumov pleaded guilty, his case was examined in a special order.
Pirumov, according to the investigation, led a criminal group that abducted funds aimed at the restoration of the Novodevichy Convent, the Izborsk fortress near Pskov and other objects of cultural heritage. The total damage amounted to 163 million rubles. In total, eight former officials and businessmen took part in the case.
