The wealth of Russia's wealthiest entrepreneurs has grown by $21.8 billion since the beginning of the year, RIA Novosti reports, citing the Bloomberg Billionaires Index (BBI).
The BBI index is calculated based on the share prices of companies in which billionaires own stakes. The ranking includes the world's 500 richest people, 20 of whom are Russian citizens. As of June 1, their combined wealth was estimated at $320.8 billion.
According to Bloomberg, Alexey Mordashov, CEO of Severgroup, is the richest Russian. Since the beginning of the year, his fortune has grown by $3.66 billion and now stands at $29.9 billion. In second place is Vladimir Potanin, one of Norilsk Nickel's main owners, whose net worth has grown by $1.94 billion to $28.3 billion. Third place goes to Novatek CEO Leonid Mikhelson, whose fortune has increased by $4.15 billion to $27.8 billion. The top five also includes Eurochem founder Andrey Melnichenko (up $5.63 billion to $24.6 billion) and NLMK owner Vladimir Lisin (down $198 million to $23.5 billion).
Tesla and SpaceX owner Elon Musk tops the global rankings, with his fortune growing by $116 billion to $735 billion. The top five also includes Google founders Larry Page ($322 billion) and Sergey Brin ($299 billion), Amazon founder Jeff Bezos ($289 billion), and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison ($281 billion).
