The "United Machine-Building Plants" will be divided in two

One structure will be engaged in mechanical engineering, the other - designing.
From the structure of "United Machine-Building Plants" (OMZ, controlled by Gazprombank), business related to technological design and EPC projects (design and construction of turn-key projects) will be allotted. This was told by a representative of OMZ. The new structure will be called OMZ Engineering, and its current CEO OMZ Mikhail Smirnov will head. The structure of the share capital has not yet been determined. While it is assumed that the new company, like OMZ, will be controlled by Gazprombank, the representative explained.

The new company will include the assets of the group involved in project management, technological design, as well as the development of LNG technologies, but what exactly - the representative did not explain.

Now OMZ includes more than 40 companies in Russia and the Czech Republic, 16 of them are large, the representative says. The group is engaged in engineering, production and servicing of equipment for nuclear power, petrochemical and oil and gas, mining and so on. In the first half of 2017, OMZ's revenue under IFRS amounted to 18 billion rubles, a net loss of 1.3 billion rubles.

The general director of OMZ itself (which will only have mechanical engineering) will be Dmitry Vorobyev on March 1. In different years he worked in NLMK, British Bridon International, the concern "Kalina" (now Unilever), Italian Merloni Elettrodomestici SpA, Dutch Heineken International B.V. In 2012, Vorobyov became the financial director of Uralchimplast, and then headed the company. Since 2016. worked as the executive director of the Ekaterinburg plant for the processing of non-ferrous metals (the group "Renova").

The machine building block and the technological design unit and the EPC are comparable in size to comparable businesses, the spokesman says, but the amount of contracts is not disclosed. Among the large EPC contracts is the gas preparation unit for the transportation of the Slavyanskaya compressor station for Gazprom. Both directions require fundamentally different managerial approaches, and therefore it was decided to separate them, the representative explains. No companies are planned to sell, he adds.
