The developers of photographic application Prisma will invest a million dollars in social network with artificial intelligence

Among investors are US funds General Catalyst, KPCB and Russian Mail.Ru Group.
The creators of the popular photo application Prisma Alexei Moiseenkov and Aram Hayrapetyan launched a new company Capture Technologies and attracted $ 1 million from investors. The new company will create a mobile application - an analogue of the social network, in which a large role will be played by the camera and artificial intelligence technologies. This was told to "Vedomosti" by Moiseenkov and Hayrapetyan.

The American venture fund General Catalyst became the leading investor of the $ 1 million round. The project was also invested by the famous American foundation Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield, and Byers (KPCB), Dream Machine VC and the Russian Internet holding Mail.Ru Group. The representative of Mail.Ru Group confirmed the information on investments, but refused to disclose a share in the new company.

Details of the future project entrepreneurs do not disclose. According to Moiseenkov, this will be an application that will allow people to communicate in some general context (from a football match to the song that the person listened to on the eve) in real time. The application is scheduled to be launched in Q4 2018.

Moiseenkov and Hayrapetyan announced their departure from Prisma in early June this year. Moiseyenkov became the general director of Capture Technologies, Hayrapetyan - the director of marketing. The third co-founder of the new company was the former developer "In Contact" Oleg Illarionov, who was responsible for the launch of the Snapster photo service. In March 2018, he left the social network to pursue his own project. In the new company, he took up the post of technical director.

The Prisma application in the summer of 2016 quickly conquered Russian and foreign users. For the first ten days after the launch, it has become one of the 10 most downloaded countries in the App Store, besides Russia. A week after the viral success of the project Mail.Ru Group announced an investment in it. According to the source of Vedomosti, the amount of the holding's investment was up to $ 2 million. Also in Prisma Labs, the developer company, the Gagarin Capital fund of Nikolai Davidov was invested and the investment company of the former top manager Mail.Ru Group, Belarusian businessman Yuri Gursky and entrepreneur Alexei Gubarev . The total amount of investments the company did not disclose. RBC, citing a source close to Mail.Ru Group, wrote that the whole company was valued at about $ 10 million.

Subsequently, Prisma Labs began offering its achievements in the field of neural networks and computer vision to corporate clients - banks and other companies interested in working with photographs, told "Vedomosti" Moiseenkov. The average cost of an annual license for the use of technology is $ 100,000.
