At the end of December 2020, the Greek authorities approved the construction of a private resort on the island of Skorpios, which belongs to the daughter of billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, Ekaterina. Reported by the Greek Reporter.

The investment plan entitled “Construction and operation of the VIP Exclusive Club elite tourist facility on the island of Scorpio” was signed by the Ministers of Environment and Energy, Shipping and Island Policy, Tourism, as well as the Deputy Minister of Development and Investment, Keep Talking Greece reports.

The agreed plan provides for the creation of a five-star hotel with an area of ​​9,420 sq. m, swimming pools, an artificial lake, a helipad, an extensive network of roads, a poultry farm, a farm, a stable, a vineyard and orchards. In addition, the houses on the eastern and southern sides of the island, where the former owner of the island magnate Aristotle Onassis lived, will be renovated. The port of Skorpios will be significantly expanded and modernized to accommodate more ships.

The project is estimated at € 165 million and is expected to be completed in summer 2024.

Dmitry Rybolovlev bought the island in 2013 from Athena Onassis, the heiress of Aristotle Onassis, for $ 120 million. Formally, the buyer was not Rybolovlev himself, but one of the companies of the trust acting in the interests of his daughter.
